SPACE stands for Support through Psychological Approaches in Care and Education and encapsulates the core philosophy of our practice. Like the tree in the SPACE logo, we all need space to grow and develop. Many of our young people are not offered the necessary security to support their growth and this can have far reaching consequences on their development.
The many hands symbolise the systems that exist around the child; carers, social workers and teachers, all of whom are involved in supporting a child’s well-being and growth. As consultants working in care environments and in schools, our main objective is to provide support to these systems to encourage them to consider the environments they are providing and how these environments learn to understand and meet the psychological needs of young people in their care, promoting well-being and development.
The main objectives of SPACE are to provide;
Space to learn, through training
Space to share understanding
Space to share practice and develop strategies, through consultation
Space to reflect, through supervision
