Educators
There is much scope within the school environment to offer psychological support. Our growing understanding of the impact of adverse childhood experiences upon young people’s psychological wellbeing paves the way for a growing commitment within schools to develop their health and wellbeing provision. Having worked in busy child and adolescent mental health services, I am all too aware of the frustrations felt by educators when young people remain on lengthy waiting lists awaiting psychological opinion or support. I believe in the importance of empowering teachers to gain an understanding of the challenges presented by young people and building their skills to meet basic psychological needs.
I offer the following services;
Consultation – understanding our young people
I have many years of experience offering consultation to parents / carers and wider systems in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. Supporting the system as a whole to gain a broader shared understanding of a young person’s needs based on exploration of their early experiences and presenting behaviours, allows the system to respond more effectively to the young people in their care. The aim is to work collaboratively to increase our understanding and make plans for ongoing care.
Consultation – understanding our organization
I can also offer consultation to consider the broader psychological needs of your school as a whole. One example of this is my recent involvement with an organization supporting them to develop a framework to inform their therapeutic culture. I have also been involved with another organization supporting them to consider their policy documentation from a trauma-informed psychological perspective.
Training
I offer both formal training and informal small-group workshops in the following areas:
I am happy to discuss the specific needs of your organsiation to identify if I can be of assistance.
